Not true at all.  I have a friend at a computer store who witnessed a MS
rep bully his manager.  The rep basically said "Bend over now or I'll
come back with some big friends and get you anyway"

They try and force retail businesses to sign very restrictive contracts
under the threat of legal action for infringment of some minor (and very
dubious license issues).  In this case the store had been reselling
computers with windows installed (apparently this is a nono).

I think they may also have a blacklist for stores that don't play the
way MS wants, and refuse those stores the 'good' deals that other stores
get.
