I've used it (I have a hacked telnet client with zmodem capability) when
I was in a situation where I could not copy some files by any other
means (no ssh/scp, no ftp, no fsp, no rcp, no ...).  One bonus of doing
it is you can turn off hardware compression in your modem and get
slightly better latency while playing quake, and still have downloads
compressed.
