forgot root password!!

Ah, I'm afraid that at this point I've only ever used RedHat, and it
doesn't ask for a root password (I haven't checked for RH7.1, but I
doubt it has changed).  I was going to have a look at some other
distributions (most likely Debian) when I get an additional hard-drive.
