We are running this configuration.  To check the obvious: newer
pam-unix2 apparently do not support NIS+ (more precisely, they do not
understand set_secrpc).  Also, have you modified auth.common in
/etc/pam.d/ to set_secrpc, essentially as in the old NIS+ docs for
Linux?
