A bit confused by your auto_master. Now I am ignorant of Linux....some
may say I am a bit ignorant about Solaris, and yet other simply say I
am ignorant....but I digress

A Solaris auto_master would have the following:

+auto_master
/net -hosts -nosuid,nobrowse
/home auto_home -nobrowse

Now the +auto_master could be either or top or bottom depending your
preference for search order.

auto_home could have two or more choices for server, as follows:

epl farmview2,homeboy:/export/home/epl

Remember to have the file systems shared: (/etc/dfs/dfstab)

share -F nfs -o rw=N_farmside -d "home dirs" /export/home

the N_farmside is a netgroup, could be a literal host name, but if the
host is down the entire share will fail Remember also that just becuase
you share the file system does not meant that mountd AND nfsd are running.
These are started at boot time iff there is contents in /etc/dfs/dfstab, or I
think the file is /etc/sharetab in Linux. If you add these items
to be shared, you must share them manually and manually start the above
mentioned daemons. The init scripts will show you how all that happens.
Simply grep for mountd and nfsd in your boot script area (/etc/init.d in
Solaris)

Did I get it, or miss the question??? Please advise

If you still have problems, what are your error messages, and try
snooping the target machine for bad stuff.
