The automount failure to mount, raw_data message could be that the
particular auto_map is corrupt. Can you load something like Hummingbird
eXceed and do a niscat to see if the destination machines can parse the
auto maps. You may wish to check the permissions on the automount
table in nisplus. We have our automaps protected so that if you are not
credentialled, that is not an NISplus client that keyloggedin, you will
not be able to see or mount our automounts.

Also you might want to snoop the wire to see if the system agrees with
the names you choose for the clients; your /etc/dfs/dfshare might be
wrong. I have had problems where I share by the short name, and the
system resolved by the full name, thus did not meet permissions.

On the second note I would think there is an error in your auto.master
in that you can mount via some method. cycling autofs is usually not a
good idea in that mounts made by the automounter will now never time out.
At least in Solaris, the use of the automount -v command is perfered.

You should not need an auto.net, the net mounts should be handeled by an
auto.master entery
/net -hosts -nosuid,nobrowse (or browse)

and check what /etc/nsswitch.conf says. you may be looking at nisplus
for your automaps. Remember the +auto_<anything> in the local files
specified when the nisplus maps should be consulted.

If either have any further problems, questions, or concerns, please advise.

Gene
