[linux-cifs-client] permissions problem with cifs

Hi,
Firstly I am sorry if this is the wrong list for cifs mounting problems.

I have a fedora 8 box and tried to mount my uni's samba drive, which
required specific username & passord. The username on fedora box is
different to that of the university's samba drive.

Previously on RHEL3, I could mount this with smbfs (which worked fine),
but now on Fedora8 I had to ue cifs as smbfs is not supported.

But when I use cifs, I am not able to read or write to this samba drive. I
guess this is cos, cifs supports unix file owner extensions (uid).

Is there a way to tell cifs to not use the samba server supplied uid's? If
not how can I overcome this problem.

Thanks,
Karthik.
