[linux-cifs-client] Samba/Cifs unusable as KDE userhome (was: CIFS userhome and KMail)

Hi,

I'll try to summarize the situation a bit, because the problem still 
remains.

a) using samba-3.0.24-6etch4
kde / kmail works, but in kmail we get al lot of cifsxxxx files

b) using samba-3.0.26
kmail (whatever distro one uses) reproducible craches

The attached kmail.strace shows, that the rename() is the problem in 
the samba-3.0.26 case.

Then I wrote a small testprogramm, which does a simple rename of an 
open file to an open but unlinked file - success. This the thing that 
kmail does, but in the kmail case it crashes.

So, Samba is still unusable as userhome.

Any hints?
