With LookupCacheEnabled IIRC file size (or other inode metadata) for a
multiply open (for write) file is only out of date for at most 1 second -
which I believe is a reasonable compromise.   NFS allows their timeout for
revalidate to be configured.

Even locally for applications with multiple processes writing to the same
file there can be races between seek in one process and write.
