[linux-cifs-client] Intermittent Permission denied error

I have a box running Mandrake 10.1 accessing a windows2003 server to do
virus scanning and backups. It tries to mount a windows share with:

/sbin/mount.cifs //server/data /mnt/nt -o
username=Administrator,password=xxxx

Sometimes this works but more often it gives:

mount error 13 = Permission denied
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g.man mount.cifs)

Immediately retrying the command usually works.

I have modified the cron jobs involved to check for the initial failure
and retry the command but am interested to know why it fails in the
first place.

Cheers and thanks,
Stephen Davies
