Hi Joe,

thanks for the tips.

In my case this only happens when I try to access a new drive that our
windows support set up, with a new user. In this case, I already have
successfully mounted as another user another windows drive. I never tried
this with no other drive mounted, though.

I can successfully mount via CIFS the same Windows drive from three
different Linux machines, but I do have problems in mounting a second
windows drive from the same machine. It sometimes works, mostly not, but
I never have the same situation of a network overload.

When I try with the new windows drive, I do not even mount it, I get an
error on my Linux console. But then our net breaks down with all the
traffic.

Unfortunately, I do not want to go over to the 2.6 kernels yet, as I am
using Ansys which is not yet fully supporting 2.6, and because the
distributions I am using (CentOS and RH9) still have 2.4 kernels as their
basis.

Regards,
Steve, Denmark
