The major difference on FC2 is simply
        mount -t cifs 
vs.
        mount -t smbfs 

since cifs's mount helper /sbin/mount.cifs should already be installed on 
FC2

There is more detailed information in 
/usr/src/<kernel_version>/fs/cifs/README

After you take a look at that, let us know any follup questions about 
things in the README that aren't clear.
