[linux-cifs-client] cifs mounting problem from 2.4.21 to samba 3 on 2.4.21

I'm trying to mount a test share that's being served from a Samba 3.0.5
(snapshot) through cifs. I compiled the module (1.0.2b, the only one
that would work for my kernel), and inserted it into the kernel. Now
when I try to mount, it asks for my password, then gives the following
messages in the /var/log/messages:

CIFS VFS: Error -32 sending data on socket to server.
CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -5

I've tried turning on the debugging (echo 1 > /proc/fs/cifs/cifsFYI),
but no further information is given in the logs...

Can Samba 3 host cifs shares? If so, will mounting a share through cifs
permit locking, symbolic links, and hard links?

Thanks in advance...
