[linux-cifs-client] cifs mount hangs KDE apps

Hi,
Running SuSE 9.2 Pro (kernel 2.6.8+) and KDE 3.3.2. I have mounted
a Win2k3 share via CIFS and *it works fine* with GTK apps, but KDE apps
hang when accessing anything within the CIFS mount. Also after KDE hangs,
attempts to umount the CIFS share fail forcing reboot to clear the problem.
The reason I'm posting here is that noone is sure whether
this is a bug in KDE or a bug in the CIFS client.
Several other folks are seeing the same problem (here is bug on
KDE bugzilla)
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92347
I'm mounting via command line like so:
mount -t cifs -o ...,rw //srv/share /local/mountpoint
I upgraded to Samba 3.0.9 from 3.0.7, but that didn't make any difference.
Also, perhaps this a dumb question, when I 'mount -t cifs' ..., does that
use the samba-client or does that use kernel cifs code (or both)?
Thanks for any hints about how to solve this!
Regards,
John Dell
