[linux-cifs-client] sym/hardlink error

Samba 3.0.6 does indeed fix the problem with links.

However, it is breaking all file access by prepending some kind of
binary header to every file accessed across the share. This results in
being able to manipulate files in the directory tree, but being unable
to actually read the files properly.

Has anyone seen this behaviour? Is there a fix?

Note that this isn't only affecting CIFS mounts - my Windows clients
can no longer access files at all (but can browse shares/directories).
