[linux-cifs-client] mount.cifs breaks use of user mount option

 Hello,

I'm trying to use mount.cifs version 1.2 on Linux 2.6.8.1. However, it
seems impossible to use it as a regular user.

Here is the line from /etc/fstab:

//charlie/remi /home/remi/charlie cifs
user,noauto,username=remi,nodev,nosuid 0 0

I get:
[root at auguste /sbin]# mount /home/remi/charlie/
invalid or missing username

It looks like mount.cifs handles 'user' as an option, whereas it is an
option for mount (which specify that non-root users are allowed to
mount the point). If I remove 'user', root can mount the share, but
other users cannot.

The choice of user as a possible way to specify the user name seems very
unfortunate.

Sincerely,
