True, but that ignores the fact that when accessing files on enterprise servers (aka mainframes), different sets of credentials may be necessary to get to different sets of files.  Microsoft blissfully ignores this, pushing the problem onto the server administrators.

No, this is a problem with user security; it wasn't a problem at all with share security (which you can't find any use of except on older z/OS, AFAICT).
