[jcifs] Does the user need to be logged on to AD, in order to get Authenticated

One of my problems with jcifs implementation is that our managers are using
there laptops to get to the N/w, but they cannot get to the IntraNet where I
am using jcifs for Authentication. All they see is a blank screen, as the
application tries to Authenticate automatically with the domain controller
and then it dies.

Please help as this is the issue that was brought up by the Director.
