[jcifs] ntlmfilter websphere persistent connections

Hi,
I have been trying unsuccessfully to setup ntlmfilter authentication with
websphere. Our application works fine with Tomcat. After I enabled the http
trace, I find that websphere is closing the http connection, when ntlmfilter
returns status error status 401. I guess that is causing my browser too
hang.  Does anybody know of a way to prevent websphere from doing this ?
Interestingly Firefox works even though the connection is closed.
