[jcifs] weblogic 8.1 request.getUserPrincipal()

I am unable to use the filter servlet provided with
jcifs do to some design issues.  Therefore I am
implementing much of the filter code in a backing file
(for those wl users).  How do I notify the container
that I have an authorized user (how do i get the
container to set the UserPrincipal object and/or
RemoteUser?)?
