[jcifs] user name from ntlm authentication

Hi,

I am using jcifs for performing ntlm authentication. I am successfully able to 
get the remote user information after doing so. The problem however is that a 
call to request.getRemoteUser() gives me domain\userid. My app server has been 
configured to deal with only userid. Is there anyway I can change the remote 
user info so I get back only userid instrea of domain\userid? Any info on this 
would be very helpful
