Hi.

What are the permissions on /var/tmp/portage/.distcc?  They should be
something like: portage:portage drwxrwsr-x (these are set automatically
by Portage).

If you run `DISTCC_DIR=/var/tmp/portage/.distcc sudo -u portage
distccmon-text 1` do you get any output?
