[distcc] distcc-2.12 maintainer-check feedback

After yesterday's builds of distcc-2.12 on about 20 different
platforms, I ran "make maintainer-check" before "make install".  

A few systems had clean test output, like this from MacOS 10:

	[GCC Apple cpp-precomp 6.14]
	BadLogFile_Case                OK
	ScanArgs_Case                  OK
	...
	ImpliedOutput_Case             OK
	SyntaxError_Case               FAIL

However, at least three systems hung (I left "make maintainer-check"
running all night):

Sun Solaris 2.7, 2.8, and OpenBSD 3.2:

	NoDetachDaemon_Case            OK
	^Cinterrupted during teardown

Here is a summary of the test failures:

Apple MacOS 10:
	SyntaxError_Case               FAIL
	RemoteAssemble_Case            FAIL
	PreprocessAsm_Case             FAIL
	Concurrent_Case                FAIL
	ThousandFold_Case              FAIL
	BigAssFile_Case                FAIL

Apple Mac GNU/Linux:
	MissingCompiler_Case           FAIL
	HostFile_Case                  FAIL

Compaq Alpha OSF/1 4.0:
	WARNING: python not found; tests skipped

	[I'm trying a python-2.3.3 build on that system, and will
	report the distcc checks if it succeeds.]

FreeBSD 4.4 Intel IA-32:
	[GCC 2.95.2 19991024 (release)]
	BadLogFile_Case               assertion "pbuf[1] == c" failed: file "stringobject.c", line 2981
	Abort trap (core dumped)
	make: [maintainer-check] Error 134 (ignored)

	[Test does not proceed further.]

FreeBSD 5.0 Intel IA-32:
	All tests report OK.

GNU/Linux DEC Alpha:
	ParseMask_Case                 FAIL
	RemoteAssemble_Case            FAIL
	PreprocessAsm_Case             FAIL

GNU/Linux Intel IA-32:
	HostFile_Case                  FAIL

GNU/Linux Sun SPARC:
	HostFile_Case                  FAIL

NetBSD 1.6 on Intel IA-32:
	Concurrent_Case               Cannot forkCannot fork	FAIL

OpenBSD 3.2 on Intel IA-32:
	SBeatsC_Case                  rm: cannot lstat `/local/build/distcc-2.12/testtmp/NoDetachDaemon_Case/testtmp/SBeatsC_Case': Not a directory	FAIL

SGI IRIX 6.5:

I'm still investigating distcc checks on two other systems.
