[distcc] Problems building packages on gentoo with distcc

Distcc bugs occurring on Gentoo should be filed at
http://bugs.gentoo.org first.  But since we're here now, let's take a
stab at it.

If you change MAKEOPTS to just -j1 does this compile?

What happens if you make no changes to MAKEOPTS and disable distcc?

Are you using the same versions (all 3.3.x or all 3.2.x) on your distcc
machines?  Are you using sys-devel/hardened-gcc on any one machine?
