[distcc] distcc-2.9-0 segmentation fault?

Compiling arts without distcc works fine. Compiling with distcc and gcc(?) 
segfaults.

distcc-2.9-0
Red Hat Linux release 7.3 (Valhalla)
gcc-2.96-113

Build KDE's arts-1.1.4 package
