There is also a problem with "make install" on solaris 8 and 9 (It
builds like a champ). Solaris (at least the machines that I'm working
on) are missing a BSD style "install" executable. It appears that you
are delivering "install-sh", which is a shell script which mimics the
BSD "install" executable. However, the configure script is not
detecting the absence of "install" and therefore not falling back on
"install-sh".
