the hypothetical scenario is that the client didn't receive the response 
for some reason.

I'm implementing Persistent Handles in Samba and I'm fixing Samba's 
incomplete Replay behaviour. Hence I'm taking a close look at spec in 
order to implement things correctly. Currently I can't make sense of the 
spec as a Windows server behaves differently.
