[ccache] arts 1.2.1 compilation problem

Hi, i am new to ccache (and i just love it) 
i encountered some problems compiling kde 3.2.1 packages
i installed ccache in /usr/local/bin and tried to compile arts (kde package)
doing 
export CC="ccache gcc" 
and
export CXX="ccache g++"
at some time though compilation stops with a silly error about
gcc (or g++ depending wether i used ccache for both compilers): gcc file
not found
not using ccache everything goes fine...
what am i doing wrong?
