As I said, I cannot make it not work, so lets see if we can see if you 
are doing something wrong (note, I am not saying you are doing anything 
wrong).

Please post the following:

confirm the distro and version.
What desktop are you using (Gnome, KDE, MATE, XFCE, etc).
What is your login manager (lightdm. gdm3, sddm, etc)
What version of Samba and where from.

The contents of /etc/resolv.conf /etc/hostname /etc/hosts /etc/krb5.conf 
/etc/samba/smb.conf /etc/nsswitch.conf

Is selinux or apparmor involved ?
