Are there any particular things to consider when upgrading from 4.9.x to
4.10.x ?

Talking of 2 DCs and 2 DMs here, debian-based.

I assume it's better to only do the step to 4.10.x first and not to 4.11.x ?

At first the DMs, then one DC ... ?
