[Samba] session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE

Trying to log into my samba server for the first time and I get this
failure:
[janos at cherubino ~]$ smbclient -L cherubino -d 3

I guess I'm missing something trivial... Samba version 3.0.3pre2 on
FreeBSD 4.10-PRERELEASE
