[Samba] convert_string error when tring to join AD domain with Samba 3 RC1

I thought so too, until I read the current documentation:
/usr/share/doc/samba-3.0.0rc1/docs/htmldocs/domain-member.html

I guess it isn't up to date. spengo settings disabled.

There's nothing added to smbd.log or any machine specific logs when I
try and run the command.

>From syslog, with log level = 10, syslog = 5  (not sure I understand
Samba's logging from the documentation, so lemme know if there's more I
should set / look at)  gives:
