[Samba] Problem with winbindd ... Please help

Hello sambalist,

Sorry to bother you, but I'm running into a problem and after seeking the net for 10 days now I still found no answer :(

Basicly it seems that winbindd won't start, no PID, no nothing. When I start it with "-d100" I get a veeeery long output terminating in "uid invalid or missing". 
Running v.2.2.7 on RH8.0

smb.conf states 
winbind uid = 10000-20000
winbind gid = 10000-20000

I'm not posting the log as it's pretty long if needed please advise.
