I get truncated output too...
samba 2.2.1;LPRng 3.7.4 + ifhp filters 3.4.4 (not from redhat,  my own 
compile)
my print command looked like this: -r -P%p %s (without -J '%J') and I used to 
get those smbprn.xxx...
