OK so I can mount a cd-rom drive off an NT box no problem, as in.
I don't get any errors. here's what I do get.
[root at intranet /root]# smbmount \\\\192.168.2.3\\cd-rom /mnt/cdrom/
Added interface ip=192.168.2.2 bcast=192.168.2.255 nmask=255.255.255.0
Session request failed (131,130) with myname=INTRANET destname=192.168.2.3
Called name not present
Try to connect to another name (instead of 192.168.2.3)
You may find the -I option useful for this
[root at intranet /root]# smbmount \\\\three\\cd-rom /mnt/cdrom/
Added interface ip=192.168.2.2 bcast=192.168.2.255 nmask=255.255.255.0
Got a positive name query response from 192.168.2.3 ( 192.168.2.3 )

So - how do I access the files? what I want to do here, is install vmware
from an NT box to our intranet server running, samba-2.0.4b-19990706
I got it from the contrib.redhat.com
Also, I should mention that I used smbmount to mount it in this way.
smbmount \\\\three\\cd-rom /mnt/cdrom/
but I have tried stuff like this as well.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
[root at intranet /root]# smbmount //seventeen/c /mnt/cdrom -U nacs -W NACS
-n kenn -d 9
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
[root at intranet /root]# smbmount //db/cd-rom /mnt/cdrom -i 207.166.192.86
-U nacs -W NACS -n kenn
If I'm doing something wrong, please piont me in the right direction.
thanks
