Distributed Winbind

I would like to see a system whereby the first time a SID->UID/GID mapping
is done, winbind could call an external program to do the mapping - this
would at least allow the contents of the static TDB maps to come from the
same source.

Why would you be averse to running an LDAP server with a simple SID->UID/GID
mapping in it? There would have to be *some* form of database, and if and
when W2K AD support goes in, LDAP will be mandatory anyway...

Regards,
Phil

Jerry I would still like to see it implemented without ldap.
A winbind master would be ok for many uses.
Ldap is stil not a thing everyone wnat to use.
