Changing IP address and WORKGROUP

Folks,

I wish to change the ip address and workgroup of my samba file/print
and windows '95 logon box (its going onto a subnet with a switch for
better throughput).  Can I simply modify the ip address outside of
samba, modify the interfaces line and workgroup line of the smb.conf
and reboot?

Any help/tips/pointers appreciated.
