About six weeks ago, I made changes to fs/cifs/transport.c that should
help with this.  Certainly by version 1.13 of the cifs vfs (see
fs/cifs/CHANGES) you should not be seeing these problems (running
modinfo on cifs.ko should also show the cifs version number if you are
running a reasonably recent one).  The 2.6.6 and later kernels would
have these fixes, not sure if any of the distros merged the fixes to the
fs/cifs/ directory back into earlier kernels.
