Unable to connect to samba server using hostname

Well, your server is simply not registered with WINS then. You should be trying to find out why Samba is not registering with wins. I see the server you ran nmblookup on has two interfaces. Would that
machine be one of the Samba targets? Perhaps you should man smb.conf and play with the 'interfaces' directive. I'm not an expert in Samba though. I think you should try the regular
samba at lists.samba.org. This is a server problem not a client one.
