[Samba] Samba-tool --simple-bind-dn?

I can't seem to find any documentation for the samba-tool option
"--simple-bind-dn"

I'm working on a perl module to interact with the Active Directory via
Net::LDAP and this parameter seems like it might be used to define the
credentials I need to bind to the LDAP server to talk to AD.    Is this
correct?   If so, how do you use it?

My other option is to create a user as a domain admin just for talking to
AD.
