You apparently have a *browsing* problem, so it's likely that nmbd is
more the problem.

I advice against messing up with browsing parameters without knwoing
exactly what you're doing...

Better increase the log level (try "log level = 3") and log at
/var/log/samba/log.nmbd

It is. This is the Ubuntu package and It Works(tm)..:-)
