But the article is fine - especially how necessary are all 4 steps to  
cure the problem.

I maintain a schoolserver which is installed since 1996, many schools  
still have Windows 9x clients, and many of them have started with Samba  
2.0.x.

Upgrading to Samba 3.2.x (or newer) and a mix of Windows 9x, 2000, XP  
and Vista is "business as usual" ...


By the why: you recommend an update from smbpasswd to tdbsam - me to.
