Hi Will,
Alright ALTHOUGH this makes no sense at all
do you have
04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.
RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller (rev 01)

I read that someone fixed this issue by swapping out a RTL8111 card.
I have this card AND I have this problem. It is only affecting samba
access from windows, http from windows is fine

google "samba RTL8111" to get a feel for it :-))

I am going to swap the NIC on Thursday I will report back.

Can anyone imagine what could possibly be wrong with a NIC or its
driver so as to ONLY affect samba to windows ??!!!

Stuart.
