To clarify that, Windows XP is perfectly happy to have names of whatever
length is the limit (I suspect it's some power of 2... 32, 64, etc.),
but remember you are creating a user on the *nix system. Many UNIX OS
are unwilling to deal with usernames longer than 8 chars. Linux seems
fine with this, and HP-UX will do it (but its useradd will not so it has
to be done by hand), and so on...
