[Samba] Slow and unpredictable Samba performance?

I have noticed that Sun's samba build has some different/wrong default 
settings that a 'standard' samba built on solaris. You might try 
comparing the outputs of 'testparm -sv' from the two different sambas. 
Perhaps some rogue default setting is affecting your performance.
