It seems my problems originated from the /etc/pam.d/samba file. It told samba to, besides whatever authentication it does by itself, to authenticate by pam_unix. Just remove the contents of /etc/pam.d/samba and you will have one less problem to worry about. =) We also had fitle with the nss config. hope it helps someone. /Eric Druid
