THE same panic I have in 3.0.23c and d ..... with LDAP...in my case if 
machine SID does not match witch domain SID during registration into 
domain ....this error occuries .... I created bug report for this error: 
4227 <https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4227>
