logs are your friend

also - be sure to set the password for the 'ldap admin' account as
defined in your smb.conf by the command... 'smbpasswd -w
WHATEVER_ldap_admin_PASSWORD_IS'

sometimes the 'passwd chat' in your smb.conf can be of issue too.
