[Samba] max number of users in passwd ( out of topic )

Hi @ll,
this is a little out of topic,
sombody knows which is is the maximum  number of users possible in 
/etc/passwd ?
i looked around google and man but did not find the info, i read somewhere
its like 65000 is this true?
