[Samba] Server can't join domain on different subnet

I have a fileserver that is on a different subnet then our domain 
controller.  When I attempt to join the server I receive the following 
message:

# net rpc join -S loanprotector -U Adiminstrator

Unable to find a suitable server

Unable to find a suitable server


This is the first server that I have tried to join the domain from a 
different subnet.  Is there something that I am doing wrong? Or some 
sort of limitation?
